Your roofer's GAF grade sets your warranty.

GAF grades the roofers who install its shingles, and Luxe holds Master Elite, the top grade.

What Master Elite actually means.

GAF has three contractor grades: Certified, Certified Plus, and Master Elite at the top. By GAF's own figure, that top grade goes to fewer than 2% of roofing contractors. GAF re-checks it every year by looking at our state license, our factory training, our finances, and what our customers say.

Our GAF contractor ID is 1146129, and you can look it up in GAF's own contractor directory at gaf.com. Check any roofer who quotes you a GAF warranty the same way. If a roofer is not listed in that directory, the warranty they are promising may not be theirs to sell.

The three warranties for a home.

Your roofer's grade decides which of these you can get, so two houses with the same shingles can end up with very different coverage. The terms below come from GAF's own warranty documents.

Golden Pledge

Covered for as long as the original owner keeps the house

Golden Pledge is the strongest warranty GAF writes on a shingle roof, and only a Master Elite roofer can register it. Materials and workmanship are both covered for as long as the original owner keeps the house. Within that term, GAF pays the full cost with no cut for age, for 50 years on materials and for 25 to 30 years on workmanship, depending on the shingle line. These terms cover single-family detached homes owned by individuals. Condos, townhomes and commercial buildings fall under GAF's separate commercial and multifamily document, which has different terms. The entry-level Timberline NS shingle does not qualify, and the roof needs five qualifying GAF accessories on it, so the bid has to be built for this warranty from the start.

Silver Pledge

Workmanship in years, not for life

Both Certified Plus and Master Elite roofers can sell this middle tier. On materials it matches the Golden Pledge, with a Lifetime term and 50 years at full value. Those terms cover single-family detached homes owned by individuals. Workmanship runs 10 years on Timberline NS and the HDZ lines, and 15 years on UHDZ, AS II and the Designer shingles.

System Plus

No workmanship coverage at all

Any GAF Certified roofer can sell this base enhanced warranty. It covers manufacturing defects for a Lifetime term, with 50 years at full value. Tear-off and disposal labor are included where replacement is necessary. If a leak traces to the workmanship rather than to the shingle, System Plus does not cover it.

The word Lifetime

As long as the original owner keeps the house

GAF uses Lifetime to mean the years the original owner owns the property, and a second owner can keep the term if the warranty is transferred the right way. That definition applies only to single-family detached homes owned by individuals. For any other owner or building type, the term drops to 40 years.

Where GAF coverage stops.

A GAF badge does not cover every kind of roof. If a bid offers GAF coverage on the wrong material, question the rest of that bid.

Shingle

Where Master Elite applies

Master Elite is a shingle grade, and all three warranties above are shingle warranties. Under a Golden Pledge, workmanship is covered at full value for 25 years on the Timberline HDZ lines and for 30 years on UHDZ, AS II and the Designer shingles.

Tile

No GAF program applies

GAF does not make tile, so no GAF grade or warranty applies to a tile roof. On tile, your coverage comes from the tile maker and from the roofer's own workmanship warranty.

Metal

A separate grade, TimberSteel™

We hold the GAF metal certification, so a TimberSteel roof can carry the ArmorPledge™ warranty. It gives a Lifetime term on materials, with 50 years at full value, and includes tear-off. Workmanship runs 30 years, and wind coverage runs 15 years with no cap on wind speed. These terms cover single-family detached homes owned by individuals.

Commercial

A different lineup entirely

GAF writes separate guarantees for commercial buildings, and the home terms above do not apply to them. Luxe offers the EverGuard Diamond Pledge on a system that qualifies, with no dollar limit on the repairs it covers. The details are on our commercial roofing page.

We file the paperwork from Jupiter.

On every replacement, Luxe files the engineering submittals, carries them through to the final wind-uplift certification and registers any GAF warranty on the roof. Before you sign, ask which warranty your bid actually carries and get the answer in writing.

We hired Luxe to do a new metal roof and add a front porch extension to our home. Can't recommend them highly enough. Great communication, fair pricing and top notch work. The roof looks great. And the porch added some nice curb appeal to the house and is our new favorite hang out spot.
